The photos below are from a unique resource: a “De Forest Radio Telephone & Telegraph Co” album sent from Thorn Mayes to Henry Dickow many years ago. Note that these are high quality, professional photos, but fingerprints, scratches, etc. are visible on equipment in many of them. We believe these photos, taken by professional New York photographer Howard Cox, were to be sent to an artist for use in producing illustrations for advertisements. Some appear to have been heavily retouched or are illustrations themselves.
Some of the items shown below are not identifiable as known DeForest RT&T products, and should be of interest to researchers. It is possible that they were prototypes or mock-ups that never went into production. The mobil unit is particularly interesting, and may have been a prototype targeted for sale to the US Army. Should you have further information on any of these items, please contact us. Prices were quoted FOB New York.
